Movement during Pregnancy

Movement during pregnancy is very important. Not only does if effect your health during your pregnancy it also effects your birth outcome.

Movement is an essential nutrient for all bodies.  It is natural to move often throughout the day. And when I say movement I mean changing positions often. I mean not sitting in the same exact position.

Movement is not the same as exercise.

In our current society we spend much more time sitting then our ancestors did. I’ve worked with pregnant people for many years. I have seen a wide range of pain symptoms that occur during pregnancy and this does not have to be the case.

Women have been birthing babies forever. Hunter gatherer women who were pregnant didn't get to sit in a chair or on a soft couch most of their day. They had to continue to do their daily chores / activities. They squatted, lifted, carried heavy objects and walked miles every day.  I’m not saying us mamas don’t do anything all day…. but comparably we move much less.

With the help of restorative exercise (RE) and massage therapy I can help you to enjoy your pregnancy as you increase strength and mobility to prepare your body for birth and postpartum.

Modern conveniences can create tight muscles that can create pain and even impede the birth process.

Massage is great for quick pain “fix”. But if you want to feel good and improve in between your weekly or monthly massages restorative exercise and a daily movement habits will do the trick!!

Pregnancy is a perfect time to start a healthy movement habits. Walking daily, squatting and moving all your parts throughout the day can create strong body to support your growing baby.

Another common complaint I hear from postpartum women is serve pain in their neck, shoulders, upper back, arms and hands. This is because we rarely carry something in our arms non stop, all day continuously. Preparing your upper body for challenges of postpartum by increasing strength and flexibility is also something we can focus on in our RE sessions.

I've created these Massage and Movement packages that I believe will benefit all pregnant women.

I know many people love their prenatal yoga classes, but I would like for you to try something different. Yoga doesn't always solve all pregnancy pain complaints. I feel strongly that Restorative Exercise, moving more of you, can benefit all pregnant woman and  I want all women to have the opportunity to have a happy healthy pregnancy and the best birth!
